Physician, Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Oakland, CA)

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with a minimum of five years of post-training experience to join its established cardiothoracic surgery program at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Summit Campus, in Oakland, California.

Practice Highlights

  • Established regional referral center serving the East Bay and Northern California
  • Collegial and collaborative practice environment with strong multidisciplinary partnerships
  • Approximately 50% adult cardiac surgery and 50% thoracic surgery
  • 1:3 call schedule
  • Physician-owned and physician-led medical group with the operational and administrative support of Sutter Health
  • Opportunities to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care across adult cardiac and thoracic surgery (50% adult cardiac surgery and 50% thoracic surgery)
  • Perform coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, complex aortic procedures, and lung surgery
  • Manage acute and chronic aortic syndromes, including aortic dissections
  • Collaborate closely with interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, structural heart, cardiovascular imaging, and pulmonology teams

Qualifications

  • Current Board Certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery required
  • Minimum five years of post-training experience
  • Expertise in adult cardiac surgery, including coronary, valvular, and aortic procedures
  • Expertise in thoracic surgery, including lung resection and general thoracic procedures
  • Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary team
